Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads to the Macau Guia race this weekend for the 2024 FIA TCR World Tour season finale, the fifth time the team will head to the legendary street circuit in contention for the world titles.
Cyan Racing heads the teams’ standings ahead of the season finale with a margin of 55 points to BRC Hyundai with a total of 135 points available in Macau.
Thed Björk and Yann Ehrlacher are both in contention for the drivers’ title, currently placed third and fourth respectively, trailing current leader Norbert Michelisz by 19 and 23 points respectively with 75 points still to play for.
“This has so far been my best season since 2017 when we claimed our first world titles and the target is the same then as now. Macau is the most awesome and crazy circuit on the calendar and we are no doubt in for a tough challenge. Teamwork, consistency and speed is more important than ever and we have worked very hard throughout the year for just that. We will fight until the very last lap in Macau, that is for sure,” said Thed Björk.
“This is the fourth time I am able to fight for the world title in the season finale for Cyan Racing and I am very proud of this. But I approach this weekend as usual and we will keep doing what we are doing. A lot of things can happen in Macau and my gap of 23 points is both a lot and not that much at the same time. Last year we fought for pole despite 40 kilos of ballast and we have improved the car for this year. There is a solid chance for us this weekend,” said Yann Ehrlacher.
Santiago Urrutia claimed a podium finish in Macau last year and team-mate Ma Qing Hua has won at the legendary street circuit in the past.
“My main objective this weekend is to help the team to defend the team championship and help Yann and Thed in the drivers’ championship. Macau is Macau, anything can happen. There is no room for mistakes and you can easily end up in the wall. This is my second race in Macau and I hope to be more competitive this year with the experience I gained last year,” said Santiago Urrutia.
“We are fighting together this weekend to defend our team title and to try and bring back the drivers’ title to Lynk & Co Cyan Racing. Macau is one of my absolute favourites and I hope that we can continue our strong pace from the previous race at my home track in Zhuzhou,” said Ma Qing Hua.
The FIA TCR World Tour season finale weekend in Macau starts with practice on Thursday, qualifying on Friday, Race 1 on Saturday and the last race of the year on Sunday - with both races broadcast LIVE via TCR TV and Macau GP TV.
