Lynk & Co Cyan Racing claims both poles in Uruguay

2024-08-03

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers Yann Ehrlacher and Ma Qing Hua claimed both pole positions for the FIA TCR World Tour races at El Pinar in Uruguay.

Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher bounced back after a difficult first part of qualifying to go fastest in the final Q2 session, claiming pole by close to four tenths of a second.

“It was actually quite a lot of up and down, I was struggling a lot in Q1 to find a good pace and I was a bit worried going into Q2. But we made some changes and I managed to put it on pole. A big thanks to the team and let’s push for tomorrow” said Yann Ehrlacher.

Ma Qing Hua claimed pole for the reversed Race 2 grid by finishing tenth in qualifying, improving just enough on his very last lap.

Thed Björk was fifth fastest with team-mate and local hero Santiago Urrutia sixth.

The qualifying result has elevated Yann Ehrlacher to third position in the drivers’ championship, 33 points from the lead, with Thed Björk right behind in fourth.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has further strengthened its team championship points lead to 20 points over BRC Hyundai.

Both races on Sunday in Uruguay are broadcast LIVE via the TCR TV streaming platform.
