Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads for FIA TCR World Tour home race at Zhuzhou

2024-10-15

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads to the penultimate KUMHO FIA TCR World Tour round of 2024 at the Zhuzhou International Circuit in China, the home race of Lynk & Co where the team will face a massive grid of 30 cars.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing last raced in China in 2019 which saw the Swedish outfit claiming two out of three victories and the team will once again receive strong support on site from employees and fans of Lynk & Co China.

The round at Zhuzhou also means the home race of Ma Qing Hua who is one of the few drivers in the championship with experience of the Chinese circuit.

"I’m really happy to race at home and represent a Chinese brand in my home country. It’s going to be exciting to race against all the top drivers in TCR China which will add another level of challenges this weekend. I know this circuit well and we will try our very best to extend our team championship lead and to support Thed and Yann who are in the drivers’ title fight," said Ma Qing Hua.

Cyan Racing is currently heading the team championship standings with a margin of 33 points over Hyundai, while Thed Björk is placed third overall in the drivers’ championship, 29 points from current leader Norbert Michelisz.

"It’s been too long of a break since our last race and I’m more than ready to get back racing again, especially on the home grounds of Lynk & Co for the first time in five years. I’m carrying a good feeling from the previous races where we’ve claimed strong results and I’m confident that we can continue that run this weekend. I’ve driven the Zhuzhou circuit in the simulator and I’m really excited to put all of our preparations into action this weekend which is crucial for the title fight," said Thed Björk.

Double world champion Yann Ehrlacher is placed fourth in the standings, trailing his Swedish team-mate by just 14 points.

"It’s good to be back racing in China again and I expect a good race weekend with a lot of fans on site. The track looks nice, quite like a European circuit. But it will be really warm and humid, so we will need to adapt to that as well as racing against 30 other drivers. We have had some retirements this season and I’m trailing the lead by around 40 points. It’s still reachable to win the title and we will work hard together to maximise this," said Yann Ehrlacher.

While it's home grounds for Ma Qing Hua, team-mate Santiago Urrutia will for the first time ever race on Chinese soil this weekend.

"It will be cool to race in front of all the fans in China and the track looks like it should suit our car well, so I’m really looking forward to this weekend. We will go for the big points and hope that we can celebrate with all of the Lynk & Co family at Zhuzhou," said Santiago Urrutia.

The Chinese FIA TCR World Tour race weekend starts with practice on Friday, qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and finally Race 2 on Sunday - with both races broadcast LIVE via the TCR TV streaming platform.
